Abstract

This study investigates the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on the performance of healthcare workers at Yobe State Specialist Hospital in Damaturu. It aims to identify the specific motivational factors influencing these employees, assess their impact on job performance, and propose strategies to enhance motivation and improve service delivery. The research addresses problems like employee turnover and decreased productivity by exploring how factors such as personal satisfaction, rewards, and job security affect a crucial workforce in a demanding environment. The findings are expected to benefit hospital management and policymakers by providing data-driven recommendations to improve worker motivation and, consequently, patient care.
