INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF SOAK-AWAY ON GROUNDWATER
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Report of groundwater contamination has been constant in various part of these has been posing health challenges to the inhabitants. Various investigation has revealed that the dependable water supply for consumption purpose are contaminated and the only source of such was from groundwater contamination, hence a serious need for such cause. To identified such contamination is a dumpsite, age 26 years located in the area. Geophysically investigation were carried out using only electromagnetic method, were various data were obtained through a prescribed type of measurements. The results were treated in five different profiles called points interval 36m. Also the contour graph of these profile surrounded the dumpsite were studied for interpretations, a carefully study reviewed that the contamination from the site is not enough to cause a serious groundwater contamination. This is evident from the results obtained from a relatively close point investigated for borehole water supply. This point is called control point and it’s at a distance 150m to the center of the dumpsite. When further investigation was carried out using water analysis from the laboratory the result was in consonants with the electromagnetical geophysical method.
