Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the influence of ICT-based records keeping and information management on the performance of Office Technology and Management (OTM) graduates. The findings reveal that ICT-based systems significantly enhance productivity and efficiency among OTM graduates, with a grand mean of 3.33. Specifically, OTM graduates strongly agree that ICT reduces errors (mean = 3.4), improves accuracy (mean = 3.4), and enables quicker access to information (mean = 3.5). Additionally, the study shows that OTM graduates possess moderate skills and knowledge in ICT-based records management, with a grand mean of 2.7. Targeted training programs are found to be effective in enhancing skills and knowledge in ICT-based records keeping and information management, with a grand mean of 3.6. Notably, OTM graduates agree that training programs provide opportunities for hands-on practice and feedback (mean = 3.9) and improve their understanding of records management principles and best practices (mean = 3.4). The study's findings have implications for curriculum development, training programs, and professional development initiatives. The study was conducted among 81 secretaries from three organizations in Kwara State, Nigeria, using a descriptive survey design. The study's results can inform strategies to improve the productivity and efficiency of OTM graduates in the workplace.
