Abstract

The study investigated students perception of heredity and it’s effects on the academic performance. To achieve this, four objectives and four research questions were formulated which guided the study. The study employed survey research design, with a population of 100 students foe the study. The study used a well-structured questionnaire for data collection. The study used mean statistics to analyze the data gathered from the respondents. The results from the analysis showed that students perception of heredity influences their academic performance. The study also revealed that inherited traits contribute to the ability of understanding complex subjects. The study revealed that personality traits are mostly influenced by hereditary factors. And the findings from this study suggests that Teachers should receive training on how students’ beliefs about intelligence and heredity affect their motivation and academic behaviour. Understanding these psychological factors can help teachers implement strategies that build students confidence in their ability to succeed through effort.
