THE EFFECT OF DEBT FINANCING ON FIRM’S FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF LISTED OIL AND GAS FIRMS IN NIGERIA.
Abstract
This study examined the effect of debt financing on the performance of listed oil and gas firms in Nigeria covering the period 2020–2024. The study adopted an ex post facto research design and used secondary data obtained from the annual financial reports of seven oil and gas companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group. Debt financing was measured using debt-to-equity ratio (DER), short-term debt ratio (STDR), long-term debt ratio (LTDR), and total debt-to-equity ratio (TDER).
