DEVELOPMENT OF BLOCKCHAIN-BASED CRYPTOGRAPHY PROTOCOL FOR SOCIAL MEDIA GROUP COMMUNICATIONS
Abstract
The rise of social media has transformed global communication but raised concerns about data privacy, security, and centralized control. This study proposes a blockchain-based cryptography protocol to address these issues in group communications on social media platforms.
Using a mixed-methods approach, it combines analysis of current systems with the design of a decentralized architecture. Blockchain ensures transparent, tamper-resistant communication, while cryptographic techniques like end-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge proofs safeguard user privacy.
The system features a hybrid on-chain/off-chain design for performance, with smart contracts handling group management and access control. A web app enables seamless interaction with the blockchain. Testing confirms the protocol’s security and functionality, demonstrating the feasibility of using blockchain to improve group communication privacy and mitigate centralized control risks.
This research provides a practical framework for decentralized, secure group communications and highlights blockchain's potential in creating user-focused, transparent digital ecosystems. Future recommendations include improving scalability, user experience, and exploring advanced privacy technologies for next-generation social media platforms.
