THE INFLUENCE OF ENDSARS PROTEST ON POLITICAL INTEREST OF NIGERIAN YOUTHS

This study investigates THE INFLUENCE OF ENDSARS PROTEST ON POLITICAL INTEREST OF NIGERIAN YOUTHS. A case study of youths in Oshodi-Isolo local govt area, Lagos State. Three research questions were raised to guide the study. The study adopted the use of descriptive survey design, the population of the study comprises of one hundred and thirty-four youths in which purposive sampling techniques were used. The instrument used to collect data for the study was self-constructed questionnaire which was validated by the project supervisor. The data collected were analysed using frequency count and percentage. Finding reveals that the ENDSARS protest has influence on political interest of Nigerian youths, the ENDSARS protest has great influence on the rise of Nigerian youths that participated in the 2023 general election, it also shows that the political interests of Nigerian youths aren't gender based.Therefore,the study concluded that it was the EndSARS protest that woke the Nigerian youths up to give them the insight that they can have a say in the political arena of the nation. Based on the findings of the study, the study recommended that a youth themed political party should be created which will oversee the orientation and introduction of politics to more youths in the grassroots if they are really serious about taking back the nation from the hands of the oldies.
