DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A HEALTH MONITORING SYSTEM USING INTERNET OF THINGS IOT
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project report details the design and construction of a health monitoring system utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system aims to provide real-time tracking of vital health parameters, including body temperature and heart rate, addressing the growing demand for continuous health monitoring amidst increasing chronic diseases and aging populations. By integrating various sensors, such as the MAX30102 for pulse oximetry, with a microcontroller (ATmega328) and Wi-Fi connectivity through the ESP8266 module, the system enables seamless data transmission to a cloud-based platform, specifically ThingSpeak. The objectives of this project include creating a compact, cost-effective solution that enhances patient care by allowing healthcare professionals to monitor patients remotely. The system not only facilitates timely interventions but also promotes proactive healthcare management, reducing the burden on traditional healthcare facilities. The implementation process involved hardware assembly, software programming, and extensive testing to ensure reliability and accuracy in data collection and transmission. Results indicate that the system successfully captures and displays health data in real-time, providing a user-friendly interface for both patients and healthcare providers. This innovative approach to health monitoring underscores the potential of IoT in transforming healthcare delivery, making it more accessible and efficient. Future recommendations focus on enhancing data analytics capabilities, ensuring robust security measures, and improving user experience to further optimize healthcare outcomes.
