EFFECT OF NPK 15:15:15 FERTILIZER AND GOAT WASTE OBTAINED FROM ITAN MARKET ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF SOLANUM MACROCARPON
Abstract
The study on the effect of NPK 15:15:15 fertilizer and goat waste was conducted at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Botanical Garden. Nursery were raised, 3 beds each were made and 3 seeds of Solanum macrocarpon were planted with not less than 10 stands making a total of 30 stands. The following treatment were applied on each of the beds as follows: bed 1 was goat waste, bed 2 was NPK 15:15:15 fertilizer and bed 3 was control. After two weeks of germination these treatments were applied exception of control bed. The result for the parameter for mean length of plant was highest in NPK 15:15:15 fertilizer with mean value of 13.28+1.365 cm, followed by goat waste with mean value of 11.24+1.229 cm and the least was control (without manure) with mean value of 8.78+0.751 cm with data analysis showing significant difference at (P
