MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING AND IT’S APPLICATION TO ORGANIZATION PLANNING CONTROL AND DECISION MAKING ON THE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED SMES

ABSTRACT The study focused on effect of management accounting and it’s application to organization planning, control and decision making on the finance of selected SMEs. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the factors Influencing the Choice of Management Accounting Service on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria, ascertain the effect of Management Accounting Service on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria, and examine usage of Management Accounting Service on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria. The study was limited to selected small scale in Osun State. The study utilized ex-post facto research design. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was utilized as statistical tool. Regression method of data was used to analyze hypotheses at the 5% level of significant. The study found that there is positive relationship between factors influencing management accounting service and performance of SMEs in Nigeria. Furthermore, it was discloses that there is significant relationship between usage of management accounting services and performance of SMEs in Nigeria. Finally, it discloses that that there is positive relationship with usage of management accounting services and performance of SMEs in Nigeria. Hence, the study concluded that cost accounting and management accounting tool has significant effect on the performance of SMEs in Nigeria. This denotes that deliberate effort must be in place by operators of SMEs to ensure that cost and management accounting tools works in perfect manner. Therefore, the study recommended that manufacturing companies should put in place appropriate measures to apply Strategic Management Accounting tools to ensure efficient and realistic decision making process that will enhance organizational performance .
