DEVELOPMENT OF AN ACADEMIC THESIS REPOSITORY AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
In academic institutions, efficient management and retrieval of theses are essential for research and knowledge dissemination. This study presents the development of an Academic Thesis Repository and Retrieval System for the computer science department, Federal Polytechnic Ede designed to facilitate seamless uploading, management, viewing, and downloading of academic theses. The system provides a structured digital platform where users can securely upload their research work while ensuring proper indexing for easy retrieval. Key features of the system include thesis submission with metadata storage, user authentication and authorization, search and retrieval functionality, and secure document access for viewing and downloading. The repository incorporates a robust search engine to enable quick retrieval of theses based on keywords, author names, or research topics. Additionally, users can manage their uploaded theses by updating details or modifying access permissions. The system is developed using web-based technologies and a relational database for structured data management. Security measures such as role-based access control and document encryption are implemented to ensure data integrity and restricted access where necessary. By providing a centralized repository for academic research, this system enhances accessibility, promotes academic collaboration, and streamlines research documentation processes in educational institutions.
Full-Text Access Notice
In accordance with the NERD Policy on promoting peer-reviewed publication, public access to the full text of a project, thesis or dissertation is restricted for three years, allowing the author and supervisors sufficient time to pursue peer-reviewed publication.
During this period, researchers with legitimate academic or research purposes may request authorisation directly from the author to enable NERD to release the indexed full texts of the work using the form below.
