DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ONLINE CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION SYSTEM USING QRCODE
Abstract
The increasing prevalence of counterfeit academic and professional certificates has created a need for a reliable and efficient verification system. This study presents the design and implementation of an Android-Based Online Certificate Verification System that enables institutions, employers, and individuals to authenticate certificates in real-time. The system utilizes a three-tier architecture, consisting of an Android mobile application (frontend), a cloud-based backend server (business logic and APIs), and a secure database (certificate records). Users can verify certificates by entering a unique certificate ID or scanning a QR code, after which the system cross-checks the information against a centralized database and returns the verification status. The system ensures data integrity and security through SSL/TLS encryption, JWT-based authentication, and role-based access control (RBAC). The backend is implemented using Node.js with Express, Django, or Spring Boot, while the database is managed using MySQL, Firebase, or PostgreSQL. Cloud hosting services like AWS or Google Cloud enhance system availability and scalability. The proposed system minimizes fraud, reduces manual verification processes, and provides a user-friendly, efficient, and secure method for certificate authentication.
