Abstract

The management of property, plant and equipment (PPE) is integral to the growth and sustainability of manufacturing companies in Nigeria. Companies that optimize their asset management strategies are better positioned to enhance their production capabilities and improve their market competitiveness. Effective PPE management has been shown to correlate directly with key growth indicators such as sales revenue. The financial implications of poor PPE management are particularly pronounced in the Nigerian context, where the manufacturing sector is highly competitive and profit margins can be slim. This research project is on property, plant and equipment management and the growth of manufacturing companies in Nigeria: empirical evidence of Champion Breweries Plc. The research study deployed ex-post facto research design of the study. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative research design involves an ex-post facto design while the qualitative design employs survey and case study. The time series data covers from 2014-2023 accounting year. The study made use of descriptive statistics like frequency tables and simple percentages to analyse data collected and simple linear regression method of analysis was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05% level of significance. Finding among others showed that there is a significant influence of property, plants and equipment (PPE) on the growth of manufacturing companies in Nigeria proxy as sales revenue of Champion Breweries Plc. Based on this and other findings, the study recommended among others that manufacturing companies should ensure consistent maintenance schedules for machinery and plants to maximize the useful life of assets. Regular maintenance minimizes downtime, improves efficiency and reduces repair costs, all of which positively impact production and sales. This ensures that underperforming or obsolete equipment is identified early, reducing the risk of production delays and costly repairs.
