A PROPOSE PUBLIC LIBRARY (FOCUSES ON DIGITAL LITERACY AND ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY) FOR: ILEMONA, OYUN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KWARA STATE.
Abstract
This project examines how modern technology should be integrated in the learning environment of the masses to facilitate access to knowledge, promote digital inclusion, and community building. The work will be an all-inclusive architectural solution to the changing role of libraries not only as a reading and research center but also as a digital innovation hub of lifelong learning. The project researches the contextual, environmental, and socio-economic settings of Ilemona, as the digital education in rural and semi-urban areas is becoming increasingly needed. By analyzing the site, studying climate, and involving the community, the design is focused on sustainability, functionality, accessibility, and flexibility, so that the proposed library will be responsive to the current and future needs of the users. The design proposal combines both the physical and virtual learning environment such as digital literacy training centers, virtual reference rooms, e-archives, and community activity areas. It also includes environmental building solutions like natural ventilation, the use of solar power, as well as use of locally available materials to make it economical and effective to the environment. The project shows how architecture can be used to overcome the digital divide and help develop community empowerment. The library is a mediator of tradition and technology to represent as an icon of development and inclusiveness that provides a chance to learn, create, and communicate in a speedy digital world.
