DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMART OPTICAL WALKING STICK WITH INTEGRATED BLUETOOTH AND FM RADIO FOR ENHANCED ENTERTAINMENT
Abstract
This project presents the design and innovation of a Smart Optical Walking Stick with Bluetooth and FM radio functionalities as a means of enhancing the entertainment life of the users, primarily the blind and the elderly. While traditional assistive devices are primarily applied for assistance in mobility, this innovation presents a new front by adding entertainment and connectivity to a walking stick.
The support for Bluetooth technology allows users to pair the walking stick remotely with smartphones, earbuds, or speakers to listen to music, take calls, or use voice assistants within reach while on the move. Furthermore, the integrated FM radio module provides users with access to many local FM radio stations, which can offer users entertainment, news, and information without needing internet connectivity.
Powered by a rechargeable battery and regulated through a easy-to-use microcontroller-based system, the device is energy efficient and easy to use. Made to be light in weight and small in size, the device makes one comfortable while in use without compromising on functionality. By incorporating cutting-edge multimedia functions into a conventional walking aid, the project aims to promote emotional well-being, reduce loneliness, and offer a superior user experience. The Smart Optical Walking Stick redefines the role of mobility aids by merging technology with everyday convenience and enjoyment.
