Abstract

The analysis for the physicochemical parameters of Udo Anwankwo River in Ikot Ekpene was carried out using standard analytical method. The result of the analysis reveals that the three water sample contained all the analyzed parameters, and their results were as follows; ST1: (Entagon) temperature 5.68+0.000, pH 25.70+0.003, Salinity % 0.00+0.00, Conductivity µscm-1 28.00+0.002, Acidity mg/l 56.00+0.003, Alkalinity mg/l 42.00+0.003, DO mg/l 10.36+0.001, BOD mg/6.40+0.002, COD mg/l 35.60+0.002, TH mg/l 27.54+0.002, TDS mg/l 16.11+0.001, TSS mg/l 25.43+0.002, Chloride (Cl-) mg/l 24.52+0.005, Nitrate (NO3) mg/l 8.48+0.010, Sulphate (SO42-) mg/l 31.16+0.015, Phosphate (PO43-) mg/l 12.30+0.020 and ST2: (Uwa) temperature 5.54+0.001, pH 25.60+0.002, Salanity % 0.00+0.00, Conductivity µscm-1 19.21+0.003, Acidity mg/l 60.00+0.002, Alkalinity mg/l 40.00+0.000, DO mg/l 11.40+0.001, BOD mg/l 5.60+0.002, COD mg/l 27.42+0.003, TH mg/l 31.45+0.003, TDS mg/l 9.78+0.002, TSS mg/l 20.10+0.001Chloride (Cl-) mg/l 26.10+0.004, Nitrate (NO3) mg/l 12.15+0.012, Sulphate (SO42-) mg/l 34.20+0.010, Phosphate (PO43-) mg/l 10.98+0.012. Water quality in the Udo Nwankwo River contained all the analyzed parameters except salinity that was not detected. Hence activities leading to the pollution of the river stream should be monitored.
