IMPACT OF STAKEHOLDERS ON PROJECT PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research investigates the adoption of Quantity Surveying (QS) software and its impact on the cost performance of construction projects. The study evaluates the availability of QS software, the factors driving its adoption, and its influence on cost performance. Quantitative approach encompassing qualitative interviews was adopted for this study, a total of 43 questionnaires were administered, out of this 25 were returned valid. Five point likert scale was used In-depth interviews with industry experts and quantitative data analysis utilizing statistical tools such as SPSS 23 software, enabling the calculation of essential metrics such as weighted mean, standard deviation, standard error, respondent percentages, and variance provide a comprehensive understanding of the decision-making complexities. Findings indicate that technological advancements have significantly transformed @S practices, with software such as Cost-X, QS-Plus, and Pro-Est playing a pivotal role in enhancing accuracy in cost estimation. These tools reduce errors, improve project budgeting, and offer better financial control, positioning them as indispensable resources in the modern construction landscape. The research identifies key factors influencing the adoption of QS software, including advancements in technology, time efficiency, productivity improvements, and reduced human error. Additionally, compliance with industry standards and the automation of routine tasks are highlighted as critical benefits that facilitate smoother project execution. The study further establishes that the use of QS software positively impacts cost performance, resulting in better resource allocation, improved financial control, and enhanced project delivery outcomes. This work underscores the importance of integrating advanced QS tools into construction processes and provides insights into the opportunities for future research to address limitations and expand the scope of the findings.
