Abstract

The convergence of tourism and spirituality has emerged as an intriguing field of study, highlighting the interplay between cultural practices, natural landscapes, and the spiritual beliefs of communities. The Arinta Waterfall, located in the Ipole-Iloro region of Ekiti State in Southwest Nigeria, is a captivating case study that exemplifies this convergence. This study aims to provide a comprehensive background of the convergence of tourism and spirituality at Arinta Waterfall, shedding light on its historical significance and cultural context, and examining the impact of tourism on the spiritual practices associated with the site. Arinta Waterfall holds profound historical importance within the Ekiti people, with its origins rooted in centuries-old oral traditions. According to local beliefs, the waterfall is considered a sacred site, believed to possess healing properties and serve as a gateway to the spiritual realm.
