ABSTRACT The general aim of the study is to examine the influences of manpower planning and development on performance of a business. Management as an aspect is the manpower planning and development, which is crucial in meeting organizational goals. The study focuses on the effects of the manpower planning of the Nigeria Bottling Company Plc, Ilorin, Kwara State. Results have shown that the need to have proper manpower planning cannot be overemphasized because it helps in identifying areas of shortages and surpluses of personnel which can be corrected promptly and the available human resources put into good use to boost the growth of the organisations. The research suggests that when creating new manpower plans, the management should use the past manpower plans as a benchmark to prevent making mistakes. Furthermore, manpower planning should involve managers at every level since imposing plans without their input or contribution is one of the obstacles to effective implementation.
