EFFECTS OF GROUNDED CHARCOAL ON THE GERMINATION AND GROWTH (PARAMETERS) OF PEPPER UNDER GREENHOUSE CONDITION
Abstract
Abstract
Research was conducted at the Teaching and Research farm of The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki in the effects of grounded charcoal germination and growth parameter of pepper in a completely randomized design with four (4) treatments (Ogm, 5gm, 10gm and 15gm) of grounded charcoal and duplicated three (3) times. Parameters measured were number of leaves, number of roots, plant height, stem girth, leaf area and not length.
The result of this finding showed that grounded charcoal performed better on the number of leaves, plant height and stem girth at x = 0.05 than in all other parameters which includes the leaf area, number of roots, root girth and root length, however, ten (10gm) of grounded charcoal had most positive effects (x =0.05) on parameters measured, therefore recommended on heavy sand soil.
