Abstract

The increasing popularity of radio programmes as platforms for education and social development has drawn attention to their influence on family relationships and emotional well-being. In light of this, the present study explored the impact of the 100% Woman radio programme on family bonding among women in Ilorin South, Kwara State. Guided by the Social Learning Theory, the study employed a qualitative research design involving in-depth interviews with 12 purposively selected female listeners of the programme. The data gathered were thematically analysed using NVivo software. Findings showed that consistent exposure to the 100% Woman programme positively influenced participants’ family roles, encouraged emotional openness, and promoted healthier communication patterns at home. The programme also fostered imitation of positive behavioural models and provided relatable content that strengthened women’s sense of responsibility within the family. The study concludes that the 100% Woman radio programme plays a significant role in enhancing family cohesion and emotional bonding. It recommends sustained production of value-driven content and increased awareness to broaden the programme’s impact among women in similar communities.
