Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between corporate governance and organizational profitability of listed food and beverage companies in Nigeria. Corporate governance plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and effective management of organizations. The study adopts a quantitative research design using secondary data obtained from the annual reports of selected companies. Key governance variables such as board size, board independence, and ownership structure were analyzed alongside profitability indicators such as return on assets and return on equity. The findings reveal that effective corporate governance practices significantly enhance organizational profitability. However, weak governance structures negatively impact financial performance. The study concludes that strong corporate governance mechanisms are essential for improving profitability and sustaining business growth.
