Abstract

This study examines the quality performance of paracetamol using statistical process control tools, specifically the p-chart and c-chart, with a focus on Jufat Pharmacy & Stores in Ikirun, Osun State. The aim is to evaluate the consistency and reliability of paracetamol products by identifying variations in defect proportions and the frequency of defects within sampled batches. Data were collected through systematic sampling of paracetamol stock and analyzed using p-chart to monitor the proportion of defective units and c-chart to assess the number of defects per batch. The findings reveal whether the production and distribution process of paracetamol remains within acceptable quality control limits or exhibits significant variations that may compromise drug safety and effectiveness. Results indicate the presence or absence of out-of-control conditions, providing insight into process stability and areas requiring improvement. The study highlights the importance of applying statistical quality control techniques in pharmaceutical retail settings to ensure compliance with health standards and enhance consumer confidence. It is concluded that the use of p-chart and c-chart offers an effective approach for monitoring and improving the quality performance of paracetamol. Recommendations are made for regular quality assessment, improved handling practices, and adherence to regulatory standards to maintain product integrity and safeguard public health.
