DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN SMS BASED ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES CONTROL SYSTEM USING ARDUINO MICROCONTROLLER
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project presents the Design and Construction of an SMS-based electrical appliances control system utilizing Arduino Microcontroller. The system enables remote control of electrical appliances through Short Message Service (SMS), providing a cost-effective and user-friendly solution for home automation. The system integrates a GSM module with an Arduino microcontroller to receive and process SMS commands from a user's mobile phone. These commands are decoded to control connected appliances via relay modules, allowing users to switch devices on or off remotely. The system incorporates a feedback mechanism to confirm the execution of commands, enhancing reliability and user interaction. Key features include low-cost hardware, ease of integration, and secure communication using predefined command protocols. The prototype was tested for functionality, response time, and reliability, demonstrating effective control of multiple appliances with minimal latency. This system is suitable for applications in home automation, energy management, and remote monitoring, offering a scalable solution for smart home environments.
