THE RELEVANCE OF ACCOUNTING INFORMATION AS A TOOL FOR MANAGEMENT DECISION MAKING
Abstract
This study examines the relevance of accounting information as a vital tool for management decision-making in modern organizations. Accounting information serves as a critical resource that provides quantitative and qualitative data used by management in planning, controlling, and evaluating organizational performance. The study aims to assess how accurate, timely, and reliable accounting information influences managerial decisions and contributes to the achievement of organizational goals.
The research adopts a descriptive survey design, using both primary and secondary data. Questionnaires were administered to selected staff in accounting and management departments of the organization under study. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentages and statistical tools to determine the relationship between accounting information and effective decision-making.
Findings from the study reveal that accounting information significantly enhances management efficiency by providing relevant data for budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and performance evaluation. It also shows that poor accounting systems can lead to inaccurate decisions, thereby affecting organizational growth and profitability.
The study concludes that accounting information is indispensable in managerial decision-making and recommends that organizations should invest in efficient accounting systems, ensure proper training of accounting personnel, and maintain accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting to improve decision-making processes.
