THE INFLUENCE OF MOBILE PHONE USAGE ON THE ACADEMIC STANDARD OF STUDENTS IN OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC
Abstract
This study examines the influence of mobile phone usage on the academic standard of students in Osun State Polytechnic. Mobile phones have become an essential part of students’ daily lives, providing access to information, communication, and learning resources. The study adopts a survey research design using structured questionnaires administered to students. Findings reveal that mobile phone usage has both positive and negative effects on academic performance. While mobile phones enhance access to educational materials and communication, excessive usage leads to distraction, reduced study time, and lower academic performance. The study concludes that proper regulation and responsible use of mobile phones are essential for improving academic outcomes.
