Abstract

This study focuses on the installation of a battery charge controller for a photovoltaic (PV) system, an essential component in solar power setups. A charge controller regulates the voltage and current coming from solar panels to batteries, preventing overcharging and deep discharging, which can significantly reduce battery lifespan. The project examines the principles of photovoltaic energy conversion, types of charge controllers, and their operational characteristics. The methodology involves the design and installation of a charge control system using appropriate components such as solar panels, batteries, wiring, and a suitable controller. The study evaluates system performance based on efficiency, battery protection, and reliability. The results demonstrate that proper installation and selection of a charge controller improve energy utilization and prolong battery life. The study concludes that integrating an efficient charge controller into PV systems is critical for sustainable energy management, especially in regions with unstable grid power. Recommendations include the adoption of advanced controllers such as MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) for improved efficiency.
