Abstract

This study was performed to evaluate the disintegrate potential of starch in paracetamol 500mg tablets from different manufacturers. The general quality parameters of these tablets like weight uniformity, hardness, friability, disintegration time and also dissolution time were evaluated according to the established protocols. The results showed that the three brand of paracetamol were identified with blue colour; with painkill having a very deep blue colour. Rate of disintegration in seconds was 300, 130 and 0.5 for Emzor, M&B and Painkill respectively. the results showed that there were viability in the hardness, weight and specific gravity of the samples. Sample B had the highest hardness (2800.00) while the other samples hardness, insignificant weight and specific gravity. The implication and significance of these results are discussed in the research.
