Abstract

This study focuses on the translation of selected Hadith from Al-Musannaf by Ibn Abi Shaybah, specifically from Hadith numbers 31171 to 31264, into the Hausa language. The aim of the research is to make authentic Islamic teachings more accessible to Hausa-speaking audiences and to enhance their understanding of the Prophet’s traditions. The methodology adopted involves careful textual analysis and translation of the selected Hadith, ensuring that the original meanings, contexts, and interpretations are preserved. Relevant classical commentaries were also consulted to maintain accuracy and clarity in the translation process. The findings of the study reveal that translating Hadith into Hausa significantly improves comprehension among non-Arabic speakers and promotes wider dissemination of Islamic knowledge. It also highlights certain linguistic and contextual challenges encountered during translation, such as maintaining semantic accuracy and cultural relevance. The study concludes that translating Hadith literature into local languages like Hausa is essential for religious education and understanding. It therefore recommends further translation of classical Islamic texts to support knowledge accessibility and preserve the integrity of Islamic teachings among diverse linguistic communities.
