CONTRIBUTIONS OF ISLAMIC RELIGION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF OKA AKOKO.
Abstract
This research examines the historical emergence and subsequent contributions of Islam to the socio-economic and cultural development of Oka Akoko. While often viewed solely as a spiritual force, the study argues that Islam has been a catalyst for structural growth in the region. Through oral interviews and historical analysis, the project documents how Islamic institutions—ranging from mosques to Arabic schools—have fostered literacy, community cohesion, and commercial expansion. The findings reveal that the integration of Islamic values has significantly shaped the modern identity of Oka Akoko, making it a focal point for religious and social progress in Ondo State.
