Abstract

This study investigates the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on social media interaction amongst students of Nile University. With the increasing integration of AI tools—such as personalized content algorithms, chatbots, facial recognition, and recommendation systems—social media platforms have transformed how users engage and communicate. The research aims to explore the frequency of AI usage for social media messaging amongst Nile university students, To determine other social media tools or factors that affect the use of AI for social media messaging amongst students of Nile University, To ascertain the influence of AI on social media messaging amongst Nile University students. Using a survey approach, data was collected through structured questionnaires. Findings reveal that AI significantly enhances user engagement by curating relevant content and improving communication efficiency. However, it also raises concerns about privacy, reduced human connection, and potential algorithmic bias. Many students acknowledge that while AI improves their overall social media experience, it subtly influences their thoughts, moods, and decisions. The study concludes that AI plays a dual role serving as both a facilitator of enhanced interaction and a potential source of manipulation or overdependence. It recommends greater awareness among students regarding AI’s influence, as well as responsible use of social media platforms. The insights from this research contribute to the growing discourse on the ethical and social implications of AI in youth digital engagement
