DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A 10KVA AUTOMATIC CENTRAL VOLTAGE REGULATOR WITH DIGITAL DISPLAY UNIT
Abstract
Power supply instability in electrical systems poses significant risks to equipment integrity and operational efficiency. This project presents the design and implementation of a 10KVA Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) developed for medium-scale residential and commercial applications. The system employs precision control components and integrates comprehensive protection mechanisms to ensure reliable voltage stabilization. Performance evaluation demonstrated the AVR's capability to maintain output voltage within ±2% of nominal 230V AC across input variations from 180V to 250V. The system achieved response times of 80-100 milliseconds to voltage perturbations, supported full 10KVA loading capacity, and operated at 94-96% efficiency. Protection systems, including overcurrent and overvoltage safeguards, performed reliably under various fault conditions. Results validate the AVR's effectiveness as an economical solution for environments with unstable power supply. Future development opportunities include solid-state switching implementation, enhanced thermal management, and digital control integration for improved monitoring capabilities.
