PREPARATION AND ANALYSIS OF SCHIFF BASE DERIVED FROM ANILINE AND ACETYLACETONE AND ITS NI(II) COMPLEX
Abstract
ABSTRACT
A Schiff base derived from condensation reaction between Aniline and Acetylacetone was prepared and characterized, along with Ni(II) complex. The preparation involved the reaction of Acetylacetone with Aniline in an ethanol solvent under reflux conditions. The resulting Schiff base was characterized using various spectroscopic technique, including IR spectroscopy. The presence of characteristic absorption bands in the IR spectrum confirmed the formation of the Schiff base, the Schiff base was complexed with Ni(II) chloride to form a metal complex, which was characterized using similar spectroscopic techniques. The characterization data provided valuable information about the structure and properties of both the Schiff base and its Ni(II) complex.
