DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN AUTOMATED FAN MACHINE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The project is based on the design and construction of a domestic fan that is automatically controlled based on the ambient temperature of the environment and on the detection of the presence of a person in the room. The project “AUTOMATED FAN MACHINE” is all about converting motion and temperature into useable electronic signals. It identifies the fundamental knowledge and basic electrical and electronic components used in the design. A microcontroller was acquired and programmed with the basic codes to achieve the desired operation. The programming language will be assembly language and the microcontroller used will be INTEL based 8052 Atmel microcontroller. A basic electronic simulation software called PROTEUS ISIS was used to simulate the circuit to confirm its workability. The external sensors were mounted on suitable positions on the fan to ensure that it senses the right signals. To sense heat, a heat sensor LM35 was used. To sense the closeness of people, a proximity detector PIR0016 was used. The design of the automated fan machine was achieved using sensors and microcontroller. The results obtained in the experiment of the testing of the finished product is that, the system works satisfactorily as an automated fan machine whose speed control was based on the temperature of the environment and the presence of an individual in the room.
The system display unit accurately depicts the temperature of the environment and the speed status of the fan, the input switches allowed the user to preset the temperature level at which the speed of the fan is altered and the settings are displayed in the screen.
This device was tested and evaluated and the consequent results outlined, results obtained at different units were accurate.
