EFFECT OF INCORPORATING COCONUT POWDER IN RAT MASH ON SOME LIPID PARAMETERS OF ALBINO WISTAR RAT
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study determined the impact of incorporating coconut powder in the diet of rats and how it affects their lipid profile. Twelve albino wistar rats were used, divided into two experimental groups and one control group. The test groups were fed with 30% and 50% coconut mix mash for 14 days. The results revealed variations in the lipid profile of the experimental groups compared to the control. There was a significant decrease in Triglyceride (TG) and High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) in the test groups, while a significant increase in Total Cholesterol (TC) was observed. This signifies that coconut powder-incorporated diets may have biochemical implications on the lipid profile of albino wistar rats.
