COMMUNICATION AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION IN ETIM EKPO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

ABSTRACT This study was on Impact of Communication in Local Government Administration in EtimEkpo Local Government Area). The objectives were to find out Ascertain the extent EtimEkpo Local Government Area employs effective organizational communication in its workplace. Find out the Channels of communication available in EtimEkpo Local Government Area. Identify the organizational communication flow pattern in EtimEkpo Local Government Area. Ascertain the relationship between communication and local government administration in EtimEkpo Local Government Area. The study adopted case study survey method, and census sampling procedure was used to select 305 respondents for questionnaire administration. Data was gathered through the use of structured questionnaire. At the end, the study found that EtimEkpo Local Government Area employs effective organizational communication in its workplace. The channels of communication available in EtimEkpo Local Government Area are verbal, memos, text, letters, phone, and newsletter. The organizational communication flow pattern in EtimEkpo Local Government Area are Vertical horizontal and diagonal. There is a relationship between communication and local government administration in EtimEkpo Local Government Area. Hence, it was recommended that the management of EtimEkpo Local Government Area should remit adequate fund to the communication unit in order to encourage effective information dissemination. The staff in the communication department should be well trained to perform their duties effectively in EtimEkpo Local Government Areas.
