Abstract

ABSTRACT This research work focused on data warehouse for medical billing system using General Hospital in IkotEkpene as a case study. The research work was necessary because of the identified problems in the existing system which included lack of use of a web based billing system in the case study to manage the computation and recording of bills in the hospital, errors in bill computation, the manual billing system is time consuming and billing reports cannot also be presented quickly to management when manual system of billing patient is still in use. To solve these problems, the objectives of the study include to design a workable web-based billing system for the billing unit of the hospital, to create a system that will help in accurate computation of patient bills and save to a web-based database and to implement a system that can be used to provide billing reports from the database when needed. The significance of the study are it will bring to light the application of computers in the management of health care delivery information, particularly billing and it will help in proper record keeping of hospital patient billing information. The design methodology used is Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) methodology and the programming technologies used are HTML, CSS, PHP and MYSQL.
