ONLINE CLEARANCE SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
At Northwest University, the traditional process of clearance for graduating students involves physically visiting various departments, such as student affairs, bursary, library, sports, and registrar, where students obtain signatures on clearance forms. This method is time-consuming, inefficient, and prone to errors such as data loss and form misplacement. The aim of this project is to design and implement an Online Clearance System (OCS) to streamline and automate this process, providing a reliable, transparent, and efficient alternative. The system allows final-year students to track the status of their clearance forms online, reducing time and effort and improving accessibility.
The development process includes extensive research, including a review of related literature and studies on similar systems. Techniques such as surveys, interviews, and observations were used to gather requirements from stakeholders. The system was designed using context diagrams, data flow diagrams (DFDs), and entity-relationship diagrams (ERD) to model the data and processes. The Online Clearance System (OCS) was developed using PHP, MySQL for database management, and HTML/CSS for the user interface, ensuring ease of use and accessibility. This project ultimately aims to enhance the graduation clearance process at Northwest University by making it more efficient and user-friendly.
