Abstract

BSTRACT This project focuses on the design and fabrication of a semi-automatic sprayer aimed at improving efficiency, reducing human effort, and ensuring uniform application of liquids such as pesticides, herbicides, and disinfectants. Conventional manual sprayers commonly used by farmers require continuous hand pumping, which leads to fatigue, inconsistent pressure, and uneven spraying. The developed semi-automatic sprayer addresses these limitations by integrating a motorized pumping system powered by a rechargeable battery to maintain constant pressure during operation. The design process involved material selection, component sizing, and system configuration, including a liquid storage tank, electric pump, control switch, hose, and spray nozzle. The fabrication was carried out using locally available materials to ensure affordability and ease of maintenance. The working principle is based on converting electrical energy into mechanical energy to drive the pump, which delivers pressurized liquid through the nozzle for effective spraying. Performance evaluation of the fabricated sprayer showed improved efficiency in terms of spraying speed, coverage area, and reduced operator fatigue compared to traditional manual sprayers. The device also demonstrated reliability, ease of operation, and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for small- and medium-scale farmers. In conclusion, the semi-automatic sprayer provides a practical and efficient solution for agricultural and domestic spraying needs. It is recommended that further improvements be made, such as incorporating solar power and adjustable nozzles, to enhance functionality and sustainability.
