Abstract

This paper examines the role of effective communication in conflict resolution in an organization. Conflict is a normal part of organizational life because employees differ in goals, values, expectations, personalities, and work styles. However, the difference between destructive conflict and constructive resolution often lies in the quality of communication within the organization. Evidence from professional bodies and workplace guidance shows that conflict is better managed when issues are identified early, discussed clearly, and handled through open, respectful, and structured communication. Acas states that dealing with conflict positively and early helps build trust and improve relationships, while CIPD emphasizes that organizations need proactive approaches and managers who can resolve disagreements at an early stage. This study adopts a qualitative documentary review design and finds that effective communication supports conflict resolution through active listening, timely feedback, transparent information sharing, mediation, and employee voice systems. The paper concludes that communication is not merely a support tool in conflict resolution but a central condition for preventing escalation and sustaining healthy organizational relationships.
