Abstract

Azimuth control systems are central in orienting devices like antennas, telescopes, and radar systems. These systems manage horizontal positioning to ensure an accurate alignment with a target, maximizing signal strength and minimizing noise, figure 1.1 provides a visual orientation of an azimuth. The proposed project, "Design and Construction of Antenna Azimuth Position Control System," aims to develop a practical and low-cost solution suiting for educational and industrial use. Whose applications span communication (satellite tracking), navigation (GPS systems), and defence (radar positioning). Recent advancements include blending microcontrollers and compound gear systems to enhance efficiency and precision. Notable contributions in this field have highlighted the effectiveness of feedback mechanisms in mitigating the effect of wind and other external disturbances, significantly impacting signal quality. Additionally, studies support the integration of gear systems and micro controllers to improve mechanical precision, important in achieving reliable azimuth control. This project focuses on the design and construction of a small-scale antenna azimuth position control system tailored for domestic applications. Given the project's academic nature, it aims to provide a cost-effective and time-efficient solution while maintaining acceptable performance standards. The system will utilize readily available components and simplified control strategies to ensure feasibility within the constraints of a student project.
