Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the intellectual development of students at Bayero University Kano (BUK). Utilizing a structured questionnaire, data was collected from 274 students in the Faculty of Communication. The findings reveal a generally positive perception of AI tools, with 75% of students acknowledging their benefits for academic learning. Additionally, 70% reported enhancements in critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, concerns about over-reliance on AI technologies were noted, with 30% of respondents expressing apprehension regarding the potential hindrance to independent thought and creativity. This preliminary report outlines the initial findings and sets the stage for further analysis and recommendations for effective AI integration in educational practices
