Abstract

The effect of goat manure on the growth and mineral contents of Abelmoschus esculentus were investigated. The seeds of A. esculentus were sourced, propagated and treated with goat manure except the control. Results for the mean numbers of leaves were 3.33+0.88 and 4.00+0.58 for treated and the untreated samples. The leaf lengths for treated A. esculentus and the corresponding untreated plants were 8.66+1.25 and 5.00+0.58 cm. From the result, the highest amount of 16.20+0.981mg/100g was attained from magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and zinc recorded the valuable contents of 11.14+0.21, 6.11+0.31, 11.80+0.40, 4.11+0.11 and 2.31+0.01mg/100g respectively. From the present finding, goat manure is recommended as a good nutrient capable of enhancing the growth and mineral composition of Abelmoschus esculentus.
