Abstract

Abstract This research examined birth registration and disease surveillance patterns in Kano State from 2017 to 2021. The study aimed to examine the dependencies that exist in birth registration across all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs), compare disease occurrences between males and females, and provide recommendations to improve public health services. Data were collected from the State Bureau of Statistics and analyzed using Chi-Square Test and Two-Way ANOVA. The Chi-Square test revealed a statistically significant relationship between gender and LGA in birth registration, indicating uneven distribution across locations. The Two-Way ANOVA results showed that disease type and year had significant effects on reported disease cases, while gender did not. The findings suggest the need for location-specific strategies in birth registration and greater attention to disease trends over time. Recommendations were provided to improve data monitoring, gender inclusiveness, and healthcare delivery in the state.
