ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF MORINGA OLEIFERA LEAF AND SEED SYNERGY WITH PALM-KERNEL OIL (ADIN) ON SELECTED CLINICAL ISOLATES
Abstract
This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of Moringa oleifera leaf and seed extracts against selected clinical isolates. The extracts were obtained using ethanol, n-hexane, and petroleum ether solvents. The study also investigated the synergistic effects of combining Moringa oleifera extracts with palm kernel oil (Adin). The results showed that Moringa oleifera extracts exhibited antimicrobial activity against various clinical isolates, including Enterobacter agglomerans, Klebsiella farrigena, Staphylococcus sp, and Budvicia aquatica. The combination of Moringa oleifera extracts with Adin significantly enhanced antimicrobial activity, demonstrating a broader spectrum and increased zones of inhibition. The herbal preparation of Moringa oleifera seed and leaf synergized with Adin exhibited the most promising antimicrobial activity. These findings suggest the potential development of natural antimicrobial agents for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food applications.
