Abstract

The seed extracts were screened for the presence of tannins, saponins, anthraquinones, steroids, flavonoids, glycosides, alkaloids, and phenolic. The results of the tests carried out on the seeds of Anacardium Occidentale (Cashew) shows the phytochemical constituents of the seed extracts which shows the presence of alkaloids, phenolic, tannins, glycosides, saponins, steroids, and flavonoids, while anthraquinones were absent. These phytochemicals have a vital role in the human body in which they serve in different part of body metabolism. The proximate analysis where also determines and the results shows that there is significant amount of crude protein and moisture content, and less amount of crude fiber and ash content which will enhance the storage time.
