Abstract

This study examine the effects of cartoons and digital games on mother-child relationships. Understanding the effects of digital media on mother-child relationships is critical for developing effective parenting strategies and public policies that promote responsible screen use. The study adopts a qualitative research design to explore the influence of cartoons and digital games on mother-child relationships. The sample size for this study is 10 participants, and purposive sampling techniques was used to select participants. Findings from the study revealed that excessive screen time often disrupts emotional intimacy between mothers and children, as it reduces face-to-face communication and replaces traditional bonding routines. Behavioral concerns such as tantrums, reduced attention spans, and sleep disturbances were also reported. In contrast, educational content was acknowledged to have positive cognitive impacts, such as vocabulary improvement and enhanced classroom response. The study also highlighted parental coping strategies, including content screening, time scheduling, and interactive routines aimed at reducing screen dependency.
