FORMULATION OF LOCAL MEDIA FOR MASS PRODUCTION OF BACTERIA ENDOSPORE (BACCILUS THURENGENSIS)
Abstract
This study focuses on the formulation of locally available media for the mass production of bacteria endospores of Bacillus thuringiensis. The research aims to develop cost-effective and efficient growth media using readily available materials as alternatives to expensive commercial media. Various local substrates such as agricultural by-products were tested for their ability to support bacterial growth and sporulation. Experimental methods involved culturing Bacillus thuringiensis under controlled laboratory conditions and evaluating spore yield, viability, and effectiveness. The results showed that some locally formulated media supported high levels of endospore production comparable to standard media. This indicates that low-cost materials can be effectively utilized for large-scale production. The study is significant for improving sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in the production of biological pesticides.
