MANAGERIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS NEEDED BY SECRETARIES FOR EFFECTIVE OFFICE MANAGEMENT IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
Abstract
This study examines the managerial and technological skills required by secretaries for effective office management in tertiary institutions. Secretaries play a critical role in ensuring smooth administrative operations, and their effectiveness depends largely on their skill set. Using a survey research design, data were collected from secretaries and administrative staff in selected institutions. The findings reveal that both managerial and technological skills are essential for efficiency, productivity, and effective communication. The study concludes that continuous training and skill development are necessary for secretaries to adapt to modern office demands. Recommendations include regular professional development and integration of modern office technologies.
