ASSESSING THE ROLE OF KWARA STATE TOURISM BOARD IN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
This research work dwells on assessing the prospect and problems of kwara state tourism board in development. The objectives of the research include, to know the functions of kwara state tourism board, to know the impact of kwara state tourism boar, to know the challenges hindering the performance of kwara state tourism board, to know the prospect and problems of kwara state tourism board. Both primary and secondary sources of data collection were used and some of the research instruments used include questionnaire, personal interview and field observation method to generate the required data which 50 questionnaires were administered and 45 were duly responded and returned. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and percentage. The following major findings were noted in the study; that the high cost of fuel has become barrier to the tourism board in Ilorin. It also note that tourism board face challenges in transporting tourist to various attractions due to high cost of fuel. It is on this findings that recommendations were made, which include; tourism board could work on improving infrastructure and amenities for tourist such as accommodations, transportation and entertainment facilities, the government should provide enough equipment for the public to be awake on the importance of the board.
